1. Order Volume (The Biggest Lever)
Sock production has heavy fixed setup cost per design. Spreading it across more pairs drops the unit price fast.

2. Yarn Composition & Certification
Combed cotton costs more than carded. Recycled (GRS) and organic yarns carry certification premiums—but unlock EU/US retail shelves.
3. Gauge & Fabric Weight
Finer gauges (200N+) and thicker terry loops use more yarn and machine time. A plush thermal sock will cost more than a thin ankle sock of the same size.
4. Pattern Complexity
Plain knit is cheapest. Double-cylinder jacquard with multiple colors and logo placement adds programming and inspection time. Functional zones (cushion, arch support) add steps.
